Ask Doc Rock | Didn't Mama Always Say?

Rock

Dear Doc. Rock, So, I have two best friends.

It's really awkward and hard if we are in the same class because if I talk to one, the other one will get mad, and the other way around. It's so hard dealing with them. They have stuff in common, and they would make great friends, but I don't know how to put them together. -- Bestfriend x2

Dear Best Friend,

Hasn't your mom ever told you, you can have more than one best friend?

They shouldn't be jealous of each other at all! I agree with you they should get along and I'm sure you guys would all have a lot more fun.

Sadly, I've been in a similar situation. As someone who befriends people from all walks of life, I can definitely attest that some people just don't jive well with others, and that's ok! I've found I can have fulfilling and unique relationships independent of their interconnection.

Communication is always the best place to start. Mention to each of them how you are feeling and ask if they would be open to hanging out together sometime - no sweat if it doesn't work out. Good luck! Rock
